Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they’ll get hurt and hold the school liable.
I guess the war games we played at recess when I was a kid are out too.
Officially recognized recess activities.
- Sitting at desk with mouth shut. (if security is present)
- Sitting outside with mouth shut. (looking at playground is an option if security is present.
- Use library. Taking books off shelves can be done with librarian’s help. Gloves should be worn while using books because of papercut possibilities. Using computers is not considered a safe activity due to viruses.
- Imagine things. If supervised. On Wednesdays. Must wear a helmet.
