No more money to the CBC

It is time for the government to stop giving my tax money to the CBC.

So I’m trying to watch the end of the Saskatchewan Roughrider game against the Edmonton Eskimos but for some reason, even though the game was back on after its rain delay, CBC kept on with its movie night.

A little ticked off, I wandered downstairs just in case one of the other CBC stations was showing the game. Luckily for me, I was able to pick up the CBC Regina station and watch the end of the game.

I know everyone else was not that lucky.

Note to the CBC: I can rent the movie. (Not that I’d want to.)

Prime Minister Harper, please stop funding that organization. There is no reason billions should be spent on that group of people without common sense.

Related.

Thanks to Kate at SDA for the linkage.

Update: The CBC will air the rest of the game on all its stations… just after midnight local time.

I’ve got StarChoice.

CBC Regina put the game back on, I watched it. The other cities and CBC HD did not put it on.

Oh stop whining, it’s not as if the CFL is important. Most Canadians believe the CBC should be given more money so they can do a better job.

“Most Canadians believe…”

Thanks Albatros39a for telling me what most Canadians believe. Care to back that statement up with evidence?

FYI: An online poll from the CBC isn’t considered useful.

There is absolutely no reason that Canada requires a publicly funded broadcaster.

Maybe those are the same ‘most Canadians’ who need Mansbridge to ‘explain’ what’s important, and believe everything they hear. (Much easier that way.)

The same thing happened to me. Unfortunately, I live in Kingston ON and don’t get the Regina CBC station. The interesting thing is that Friday night I was watching the BC/Calgary game on TSN and when it went into overtime they stayed with the game until the very end.

Sorry to hear that L.J.

Make sure you let your local station know that you would have appreciated seeing the rest of the game. Oh, and let your MP know that you would rather have your tax dollars going to a better cause.

Lwestin, I’d say that most Canadians unfortunately, do believe everything they hear on the TV and the internet. Which is why albatros39a believes what the CBC barfs up.

That game drew quite the audience - 585,000 viewers. Compared to the average of somewhere between 200-300K viewers they get normally. And you want me to believe that the CFL isn’t important, while the CBC is?

I want my money back…

I believe that one of the reasons was that blackout was lifted so the majority of Saskatchewan watched as well as Edmonton. Except for the last part of the game of course.

Also, because Toronto was not playing in the game there were fans from both teams watching.
