The CBC gets a 7 year deal with the NHL.

“This is financed completely out of private money … There is no public money involved in this deal,” said Stursberg, adding that revenue generated from the deal will help finance other, less-profitable CBC programs.

You mean, like the rest of them?

The deal will keep Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC until 2014, which, coincidentally, is the number of times Bob Cole states the obvious during a single broadcast.

Bettman said the new deal will feature fewer Toronto Maple Leafs games during the regular season, with more dates being allocated for other Canadian teams.

Looks like someone at CBC is going to have to buy a map to find the other Canadian cities.

In words that could get one fired from our “Public Broadcaster,” Rick Mercer puts together a response to a whining Professor of Women’s Studies whose Christmas was ruined by the CBC showing a “poor sod” soldier.

Personally, I would have thought that as a professor of women’s studies you would be somewhat supportive of the notion of a NATO presence in Afghanistan. After all, it is the NATO force that is keeping the Taliban from power. In case you missed it Noreen, the Taliban was a regime that systematically de-peopled women to the point where they had no human rights whatsoever. This was a country where until very recently it was illegal for a child to fly a kite or for a little girl to receive any education.

I still can’t figure out how Jack! and other left wing nutbars who “fight” for minority rights could even think of withdrawing from Afghanistan.
